Here in Tidewater Virginia the yaupon holly was an important tree for the Powhatan people in the 16th and 17th centuries. Been trying to find some to plant in the educational garden at the museum but it’s hard to come by any that isn’t a cultivar. Anybody know where I might get some seeds or seedlings?
Thanks!

Have you tried tracking what you want on iNaturalist locally to you? I've actually had some luck doing this here in Maine. It's not exact and some people don't put the location exactly where the plant was growing but often it'll give you a good idea where you can forage. Just remember the plants nearer to people / neighborhoods could be escapees rather than natives though not always. I'm actually having a great time trying to forage this way even if it is a little slow sometimes. In summer when we're camping I check out any iNat postings nearby and I almost always forage something I wanted or wanted to learn about!
Thanks for the tip!
