Hi from Ohio

I'm a semi experienced gardener from Ohio who is (with my husband) trying to develop a vegetable garden that will produce a significant amount of vegetables for our family.

We're experimenting with a kind of in place layered composting as well as compost piles to improve the soil. We're also playing around with container gardening around the house and I've been fiddling with Kratky method hydroponics indoors.

Strategizing ways to discourage, but not harm the critters who we share the place with.

Lots of learning and experimenting with the feeling things could get real really fast one of these days.

I'm here to listen, learn, support and share experiences with others on a similar path.

Hello Digger, understand the troubles that come along with critters, and trying to bring a crop to the table without being the critter destroyer.
Iโ€™m originally from the Elyria area but got to Texas as soon as I could.
Take care.

Hi Digger! ๐Ÿ‘‹ Glad you're here ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm also on a journey to try to find the best ways to discourage critters without having to kill any more than necessary. So much to learn about deterrence!

Not sure what kind you're dealing with in Ohio, but down here in Arizona it's been pocket gophers and mice more than anything.

We're working on some fencing to try and keep them both out. Hardware cloth buried down a foot all around for burrowing gophers, and then aluminum flashing on the top to prevent mice from climbing.

Not finished yet, but I'll report back on how it's working once it's done!

What kinda critters you got?
